KGE responds to valid legal process consistent with applicable law, user rights and the security of its systems. This page is not consent to informal access to user data.
Effective:
1. Submitting a request
Authorized legal or government requests should be submitted through the KGE Contact page using the Legal / IP inquiry type and should identify the requesting agency or party, legal authority, requested records, relevant account identifiers, return contact information and any applicable deadline.
2. Valid process
KGE may require a subpoena, court order, warrant or other process appropriate to the requested information and governing law. KGE may reject or narrow requests that are defective, overbroad, ambiguous, inconsistent with law or directed to the wrong entity.
3. Emergencies
Emergency requests involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical injury should clearly identify the emergency, the nature of the threat, why the information sought is necessary and the legal basis for disclosure. Submission does not guarantee disclosure.
4. User notice
KGE may notify affected users of legal requests unless prohibited by law, court order or a legitimate safety/security reason.
5. Preservation requests
KGE may preserve specified account records for a limited period in response to a valid preservation request as permitted by law. Preservation does not itself authorize disclosure.
6. Reimbursement
KGE may seek reimbursement of reasonable costs associated with responding to legal process where permitted by law.
Important: Product-specific disclosures, app-store rules and rights that cannot legally be waived may supplement or override general language in this policy.
